to blog, or not to blog

And so it begins...

In an effort to exercise my creative abilities, and more specifically my writing, I'm embracing the world of blogging yet again. The reasons for this are as follows:

1) Like I said, my creativity needs a jump start. I used to write and I haven't been lately. And really, I don't think I can write effectively if I'm not consistently doing it.

2) The world of blogging is the ideal means of writing consistently. This is not academic writing, so the pressure of perfection is absent. It's easy and accessible. It's informal. Therefore, some of it may suck, but at least it'll suck on a regular basis. And having an audience is more enticing than the thought of becoming an Emily Dickinson-esque recluse. I am terrified of criticism, but more terrified of having talent and being too self conscious to make use of it.

3) Simply said, my life is funny and, at times, bizarre. Perhaps I underestimate everyone else's lives or maybe I'm too easily humored by my own meager existence , but either way it makes useful writing material.

4) This existence of mine is currently stressful, unbelievable, and (quite frankly) lonely. That being the case, I have much to vent about and an excess of free time. Need I say more?
